75% of people who identify as someone of color don’t have a passport. The Roots Fund is bigger than just the education and financial support. We break cultural barriers by providing passport assistance and a basic understanding of traveling the world. 95% of our scholars have valid passports and 45% took their first trip out the country with our organization. Ikimi, our CEO, often says “It's bigger than wine. This work is building social equity.”
In the past four years The Roots Fund scholars have visited France, Italy, Spain, South Africa, and New Zealand. We have traveled through every dOur International trips are fully covered for travel, meals, and transportation.
